Krunal Pandya’s Baroda posts highest-ever T20 total during 2024 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Krunal Pandya-led Baroda posted the highest-ever T20 total during the 2024 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Sikkim at the Emerald Heights International School Ground in Indore on Thursday, December 5. Batting first, Baroda posted 349/5 in their allotted 20 overs, featuring the most sixes (37 sixes) in a T20 innings.

With the staggering total, they broke the previous record held by Zimbabwe (344/4 against Gambia in 2024).

The top five list also features Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), who smashed 287/3 against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2024.

Defending champions Punjab held the previous record total in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. They posted 275/6 against Andhra in 2023. The top three list also features Saurashtra, who posted 266/6 against Baroda in 2024.

Bhanu Pania steals the spotlight as Baroda posts record T20 total

Openers Shashwat Rawat and Abhimanyu Singh provided a stunning start for Baroda as they shared a 92-run partnership for the opening wicket. Shashwat smashed a quickfire 43 runs off 16 balls, while Abhimanyu slammed 53 off 17 deliveries.

Bhanu Pania starred with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 134 off 51, a knock laced with 15 sixes and five boundaries. Shivalik Sharma and Vishnu Solanki also chipped in with 55 (17) and 50 (16), respectively.

Palzor and Roshan emerged as the leading wicket-takers for Sikkim, returning with two wickets apiece but was expensive. Tarun Sharma also picked up a solitary wicket.

Two-time champions Baroda are currently third in the Group B points table with five wins in six games. On the other hand, Sikkim are yet to taste a victory in all six outings.
