"Let's go get that title" - AB de Villiers ecstatic as RCB spark remarkable turnaround to qualify for IPL 2024 playoffs

Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star AB de Villiers was ecstatic after they sparked a remarkable comeback to seal a spot in the IPL 2024 playoffs. De Villiers urged RCB to go for the title.

Faf du Plessis and his men won their sixth match in a row as they overcame defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in a thrilling contest on Saturday at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. RCB were at the bottom of the table, winning only one game out of seven at one stage, but have now sneaked into the playoffs.

Taking to his official account on X, the former South African captain wrote:

"Never count #RCB out. What a turnaround! What a performance! Let’s go get that title now."

De Villiers featured in two IPL finals for the Royal Challengers in 2011 and 2016, but the franchise ended up on the losing side on both occasions. The Royal Challengers will face either the SunRisers Hyderabad or Rajasthan Royals in the playoffs.

RCB captain Faf du Plessis spearheaded their win after CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad put them into bat. Openers Virat Kohli and Du Plessis gave their side a brisk start by stitching together a 78-run opening stand. Kohli was the first to fall, perishing for 47, while the skipper departed for 54 in an unfortunate manner.

Rajat Patidar, Cameron Green, Dinesh Karthik and Glenn Maxwell then played cameos to lift the hosts to 218. On the field, Du Plessis took two crucial catches, including a blinder to get rid of Mitchell Santner.

Yash Dayal delivered a stellar final over, defending 17 the Super Kings required to make it to the playoffs. Despite the best efforts of MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja, the Yellow Army were unsuccessful in their pursuit.
