List of standby players announced in India’s squad for WTC final vs Australia
India have announced a star-studded squad for the upcoming WTC Final against Australia. The big match will start on June 7 in Southampton. Australia will play their maiden World Test Championship Final, while India lost against New Zealand in the summit clash of the inaugural edition of the tournament two years ago.
Players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav are a part of the Indian squad.
KL Rahul was a member of the original team as well, but he has been ruled out of the WTC Final because of an injury. Ishan Kishan has replaced him in the squad as a backup wicket-keeper.
In case there are more injuries in the Indian squad before the World Test Championship Final, the BCCI has named three standby players as well. Two of the three names are yet to make their Test debuts.
The first name is Suryakumar Yadav, who made his Test debut against Australia earlier this year, while the other two players are opener Ruturaj Gaikwad and pace bowler Mukesh Kumar.

Suryakumar Yadav is the most experienced name present in the standby players list for WTC Final 2023
The most experienced name present in the list of standby players is Suryakumar Yadav, who played one Test against Australia this year. Playing at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur, Yadav scored eight runs off 20 balls. He was dropped from the team for the next Test.
Yadav has never played a Test on English soil before, while Ruturaj Gaikwad and Mukesh Kumar have never played a Test before. If another player is ruled out of the big game, India will be forced to name a debutant or a player with an experience of one Test in the main squad.
