Australia set revised DLS target of 317 in 33 overs following rain delay in IND vs AUS 2nd ODI in Indore
Australia have been set a revised DLS target of 317 in 33 overs following a rain delay in the second ODI against India at the at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Sunday, September 24. Play resumed at 8:35 pm IST.
Responding to India’s total of 399/5, Australia got off to a poor start with the bat, losing Matthew Short (9) and Steven Smith (0) off consecutive deliveries to Prasidh Krishna. David Warner was batting on 26 off 24 balls and Marnus Labuschagne on 17 off 21 deliveries when rain halted the proceedings.
Earlier, India put up 399/5 on the board after being asked to bat first. Shubman Gill (104 off 97) and Shreyas Iyer (105 off 90) added 200 runs for the second wicket. Suryakumar Yadav (72* off 37) and KL Rahul (52 off 38) also made important contributions.
For Australia, Cameron Green registered expensive figures of 103/2 in his 10 overs, while Sean Abbott went for 91 runs in his 10 overs, claiming just one wicket.
There was a rain interruption during India’s innings as well after 9.5 overs. When weather forced a delay, the Men in Blue were 79/1 with Shreyas batting on 34 off 20) and Gill on 32 off 27. They had added 63 runs before play was stopped briefly due to rain.
Shreyas, who was under pressure after being run out for three in the last game, looked in great touch. He came in and showed intent from the word go, timing the ball sweetly. Gill carried on his great run with the willow, striking fours and sixes.
Given the manner in which the India duo was batting, Australia might have heaved a sigh of relief when the rain came down.
