Suryakumar Yadav to play Buchi Babu tournament: Reports

The Indian T20I captain hasn’t given up on the hopes of playing red-ball cricket for India, as the right-handed batter has expressed his desire to play in the Buchi Babu tournament.

Surya has only played one Test match against Australia in February 2023. The explosive batter struggled during his short stay and was dismissed by Nathan Lyon for 8. Since then, he hasn’t represented the nation in Test cricket.

However, the Indian batter is keen to represent the country in all three formats. As per a report by ESPNcricinfo, he has informed of his availability for the second half of the Buchi Babu tournament.

Speaking about his decision, Yadav told the Times of India:

"I want to play for India in all three formats. Playing in Buchi Babu will give me good practice for the red-ball tournaments this season."

It will be interesting to see whether Suryakumar Yadav will make his way to the Indian Test team or not.
