On the cricketing front, Suryakumar kicked off his tenure as India's full-time T20I captain with a 3-0 whitewash over Sri Lanka last month. The swashbuckling batter scored 92 runs across three innings and was adjudged the Player of the Series.

In the third fixture, he also impressed many with his bowling, taking the match to the Super Over by claiming two wickets and giving away just five runs in the last over. He was not picked in the squad for the subsequent three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.

Suryakumar Yadav will be in action in the ongoing Buchi Babu Trophy

Suryakumar Yadav will play for Mumbai in the ongoing Buchi Babu Trophy. The right-handed batter is set to featured in red-ball domestic competitions on the road to India's upcoming Test season.

Apart from the Buchu Babu Trophy, Suryakumar will also participate in the 17th edition of the Duleep Trophy. He has been named in the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led Team C.

Speaking to the Times of India, the 33-year-old expressed his desire to play all three formats for Team India. He said:

"I want to play for India in all three formats. Playing in Buchi Babu will give me good practice for the red-ball tournaments this season."

Suryakumar Yadav has played just one Test so far in his career. He made his Test debut against Australia at Nagpur in February 2023. He failed to make a significant impact in the outing, falling to Nathan Lyon after scoring eight runs off 20 balls.
