Team India broke a 13-year World Cup drought with the 2024 T20 World Cup triumph
Team India broke their 13-year World Cup drought with the 2024 T20 World Cup victory in the West Indies and the USA. The side's last triumph in a World Cup came in the ODI format at home in 2011.
Rohit Sharma's Men enjoyed an unbeaten run in the T20 World Cup, winning all eight games. They also became the first-ever team to not suffer a single loss in a T20 World Cup.
The Men in Blue defeated the last two T20 World Cup champions Australia and England in the Super Eight and the semi-final respectively. They then secured a thrilling seven-run win over South Africa in the final.
Virat Kohli was adjudged the Player of the Final for his crucial 76 with the willow, while Jasprit Bumrah was the Player of the tournament. It was India's second T20 World Cup title after MS Dhoni's side won the inaugural edition in South Africa in 2007.
