"Mahi bhai loves songs and is a fan of Kishore Kumar" - Mohit Sharma on MS Dhoni singing 'Salame Ishq Meri Jaan'
Indian seamer Mohit Sharma shared a video of MS Dhoni singing the late Kishore Kumar's 'Salame Ishq Meri Jaan' song on the latter's birthday last year. The pacer mentioned that the video was shot after an Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Sharma disclosed that Dhoni was fond of music, with Kishore Kumar being his favourite singer. Sharing details of an 'antakshari' session featuring the former CSK captain, here's what he said in a video shared on the YouTube channel 2 Sloggers (from 44:09):
"It was after a match in Kolkata. A few of our friends were there. Jassie Gill was also there. It was late at night and we started playing antakshari. We started with antakshari but after some time, everyone started singing their favourite songs. Mahi bhai loves songs and is a fan of Kishore Kumar."
One being asked if he took MS Dhoni's permission before posting his singing video on social media, Sharma joked that if he had asked, it would have taken three years for Dhoni to respond, adding:
"If I had asked, three birthdays would have gone by."
It is worth mentioning that MS Dhoni loves retro songs. He used the iconic song 'Main Pal Do Pal Ka Shayar' while announcing his retirement from international cricket in 2020.
"If the phone is in front of him, he won't take it unless it's necessary" - Mohit Sharma on MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni is known to use mobile phones sparingly. Several cricketers have spoken about how tough it is to reach the former India captain. Mohit Sharma stated that the 43-year-old doesn't touch his phone until it's necessary.
He disclosed that Dhoni played a lot of games, but prefers using the iPad for it. Speaking about the 2011 World Cup-winning skipper's phone habits, Sharma said in the aforementioned video (from 46:58):
"It's not like he doesn't use the phone at all. If the phone is in front of him, he won't take it unless it's necessary. He plays his games on the iPad because he likes to play on a bigger screen. When he has to call someone or send a message, that's when he will start looking for his phone."
Meanwhile, fans have been wondering about MS Dhoni's IPL future. While he hasn't announced his retirement, his participation in IPL 2025 reportedly depends on the yet-to-be-announced retention rules ahead of the mega auction.
