"Mai haath jodta hoon, ab ek badi knock chahiye" - Fans react as KL Rahul is out for 16 in 1st IND vs BAN 2024 Test
Team India batter KL Rahul was dismissed for just 16 in the second session of Day 1 of the opening Test against Bangladesh on Thursday, September 19. The first of the two-match series is being played at Chennai's M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.
After walking out at No. 6, KL Rahul looked a bit shaky at the start of his inning. But the nerves seemed to ease out when he played an on-drive against express pacer Nahid Rana. He looked set after that boundary, picking up ones and twos. But Mehidy Hasan Miraz had the last laugh. Rahul played one with the turn, but it was briefly in the air and Zakir Hasan at short leg took a sharp diving catch.
Fans didn't hold back their disappointment at yet another failure from the batter. Take a look at some of the reactions:
"Cheekh cheekh ke bol raha hu ki play KL Rahul at 3. He likes wasting balls and scoring less runs. Perfect replacement of Pujara - one user said"
"KL is close to his age being greater than his test batting average." - another user quipped
"The less I talk about #KLRahul the better. No respect, only disrespect for this fraud."- a third user said
Team India 6 wickets down against Bangladesh on Day 1 of the 1st IND vs BAN Test
After losing the toss, Team India were asked to bat first by Bangladesh on an overcast day in Chennai. The hosts were in trouble early on, being reduced to 34/3 with Rohit Sharma (6 off 19), Shubman Gill (0 off 8) and Virat Kohli (6 off 6) being dismissed cheaply.
Rishabh Pant (39 off 52) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (56 off 118) batted well in the middle, stitching together a partnership of 62 runs for the fourth wicket. Pant was dismissed looking to go after the bowling while the latter got to his 50. Jaiswal got out after his half-century, before KL Rahul followed suit in the very next over.
At the time of writing, Team India are 219 for six after 55 overs. Ravichandran Ashwin (40 off 42) and Ravindra Jadeja (30 off 37) are leading a strong counter-attack.
