Australia's Steve Smith once again failed to deliver against India in the first innings of the second Test on Day 2 in Adelaide on Saturday, December 7. The right-handed batter departed for just two runs off 11 balls, caught behind by Rishabh Pant off Jasprit Bumrah, drawing criticism from fans. This was the first time that Bumrah dismissed Smith, who has managed just six runs off 19 balls against him.
Smith had returned with scores of 0 and 17 in the opening game in Perth, where India won by 295 runs to go 1-0 ahead in the five-match series.

India vice-captain Jaspri Bumrah struck twice early on Day 2 of the second Test against Australia. The ace pacer first got rid of Nathan McSweeney (39) before taking the prized scalp of Steve Smith.
At the time of writing, the hosts were 122/3, with Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head at the crease. Bumrah has picked up all three wickets so far.
Batting first, the tourists put up 180 in their first innings. Mitchell Starc starred with the ball, returning with figures of 6/48. This was his first 5-fer against India in Tests (21 Tests). Australia skipper Pat Cummins and Scott Boland also bagged two wickets apiece.
Nitish Kumar Reddy starred with the bat, scoring 42 runs off 54 balls, including three sixes and as many boundaries. KL Rahul and Shubman Gill also chipped in with 30s, while Ravichandran Ashwin and Rishabh Pant chipped in with 20s.
