Mehidy Hasan Miraz reveals that he was stung by a bee on Day 4 of IND vs BAN 2024 2nd Test

Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz revealed that he was stung by a bee on Day 4 of the second Test against India at Green Park in Kanpur on Monday, September 30. The talented cricketer said that he initially didn;t realize that the bee was inside him and added that once he came to know about the same, he felt the pain.

After two consecutive days of play being washed out, India dominated Day 4 of the Kanpur Test. Bangladesh resumed their first innings on 107-3 and were bowled out for 233 despite Mominul Haque's unbeaten 107. India responded with a whirlwind 285-9 declared in 34.4 overs and reduced the visitors to 26-2 in 11 overs in their second innings by close of play.

After the day's play, all-rounder Mehidy Hasan opened up about an interesting incident about being stung by a bee while he was batting. The 26-year-old said (as quoted by India Today):

“I didn’t know that the bee was inside me. After I played the shot, it stung me, and then I got to know about it and felt the pain."

The talented all-rounder also shared his views on veteran cricketer Shakib Al Hasan's decision to retire. Mehidy Hasan admitted that Shakib had informed his teammates about the same:

“Shakib bhai told about it earlier, and we knew it. He had told us about his plans to retire from Test cricket. It’s not that he took the decision all of a sudden. It has to go through a process. He had to talk to the team management and discussed it with the players."

At stumps on Day 4 of the Kanpur, Shadman Islam was batting on seven while Mominul Haque was yet to get off the mark. The visitors trail India by 26 runs.


How Mehidy Hasan has fared in the series against India so far

A highly gifted all-rounder, Mehidy Hasan scored 27* and 8 in the first Test in Chennai. With his off-spin, he picked up three wickets. The 26-year-old was dismissed for 20 off 42 in the first innings of the Kanpur Test and claimed 4-41 in 6.4 overs.

The Bangladeshi all-rounder is featuring in his 47 Test match. He has scored 1,680 runs at an average of 22.70 and has picked up 181 scalps at an average of 32.67.
