“Midweek Blues” - Rohit Sharma shares a picture as he enjoys his time off from the field in the US

Indian captain Rohit Sharma shared a picture on his Instagram stories while enjoying his time away from the game in the US. The Mumbai cricketer became the second Indian captain to win a T20 World Cup after MS Dhoni when the Men in Blue defeated South Africa by seven runs in the final in Barbados on June 29.

Leading from the front, Rohit remained the tournament's second-highest scorer. In eight games, the Indian opener amassed 257 runs at a 156.7 strike rate, which included three half-centuries.

At the post-match presentation after the final, he announced his retirement from the shortest format of the game.

The Indian captain is currently enjoying his time off the field following the World Cup and was even spotted attending a match at Wimbledon last week.

Since then, he has been in the US, taking part in several events. On July 17, he took to his Instagram stories to share a picture of himself out and about, sporting a blue shirt with black shorts, looking relaxed. He captioned the story:

It's unclear if Rohit will be available for selection in the ODI series against Sri Lanka that kicks off early next month.

“I try and set an example for my colleagues” - Rohit Sharma shares what it takes to lead a team

The Indian opener was recently questioned about his leadership qualities and what it's like to be a captain in an interview with the Aldar Experts Podcast. Highlighting the importance of setting the right example, Sharma replied:

"For a leader, I think it’s important to try and lead from the front, set an example for rest of your colleagues, your teammates. And for me, it’s always been important that I’ve always carried myself in a way where I try and set an example for my colleagues.
"It is just not about what you do on the field, it is also about what you do off the field as well. I treat them like family, like friends, because as much as you’re part of this team, they share the equal responsibility and equal share in the team to be part of that team. So you got to make them feel homely, you have got to make them feel that you’re wanted here."

BCCI secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that Rohit Sharma will captain the Indian team in the World Test Championship and ICC Champions Trophy next year.
