Mohammad Nabi to retire from ODIs after 2025 Champions Trophy - Reports
Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi is set to retire from ODIs after the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan, as per reports on Cricbuzz. The 39-year-old debuted in Afghanistan's first-ever ODI against Scotland in 2009.
Nabi scored a 64-ball 58 in that outing to help Afghanistan win by 89 runs and his career has taken off since with bat and ball. The veteran was an integral part of Afghanistan, including captaining them in their first-ever ODI World Cup in 2015.
Nabi's ODI retirement plan was confirmed by Afghanistan's chief executive Naseeb Khan to Cricbuzz on Friday, November 8.
"Yes, Nabi is retiring from ODIs after the Champions Trophy and he informed the board about his desire. He told me few months back that he wants to end his ODI career after the Champions Trophy and we welcome his decision. After the Champions Trophy, what I understand is that, he is expected to continue his T20 career, and that is the plan until now," he said.
Nabi is Afghanistan's second-all-time leading run-scorer and wicket-taker with 3,549 runs and 171 wickets, respectively.
The champion all-rounder also boasts two centuries and 17 centuries in ODIs with the bat, in addition to four four-wicket hauls and a fifer.

Mohammad Nabi starred with the bat in Afghanistan's most recent ODI - the first of three matches against Bangladesh in Sharjah.
After winning the toss and batting first, the Afghans were in deep trouble at 71-5 in 20 overs when Nabi walked out to bat. Yet, unfazed by the situation, the right-hander scored a brilliant 84 off 79 deliveries to help the side post a respectable 235 on the board.
Nabi's blistering knock and a 17th ODI half-century included four boundaries and three maximums.
The seasoned campaigner wasn't done with his magic for the evening as he dismissed Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto for 47 during their run-chase. Afghanistan eventually completed a massive 92-run victory to take a 1-0 series lead.
The second ODI of the three-match series will be played at the same venue (Sharjah) on Saturday, November 9.
