Team India captain Rohit Sharma posed with the 2024 T20 World Cup trophy beside him while he was in bed on Sunday morning (June 30) in the Caribbean islands. On Saturday, he realized his dream of winning the World Cup as captain after the Men in Blue beat South Africa in the summit clash by seven runs at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.
The skipper came really close to winning it last November when India reached the 2023 ODI World Cup finals undefeated, following a dominant performance in the league stage and semis. However, it ended in a massive heartbreak as Australia beat them to clinch yet another trophy.
Rohit Sharma led the Indian team from the front with the bat 2024 T20 World Cup and his brilliant captaincy helped the side lift their second World Cup in the shortest format. He also joined the elite club of Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni as World Cup-winning captains of India.
Rohit took to his official Instagram handle and shared a picture of himself with the trophy in bed through a story. He wrote:

Rohit Sharma announces retirement from T20Is on a high as World Cup-winning captain
Indian stalwart Virat Kohli announced his retirement from T20 Internationals after receiving the Player of the Match award after the conclusion of the World Cup final. His opening partner Rohit Sharma also bid adieu to the format after a couple of moments while speaking to reporters at the post-match press conference.
As quoted by ESPN Cricinfo, he said:
"This was my last [T20I] game as well. No better time to say goodbye to this format. I've loved every moment of this. I started my India career playing this format. This is what I wanted, I wanted to win the cup. I wanted this badly.
Rohit Sharma ended his T20I career on a high with the World Cup trophy and also as the leading run-scorer in the format. He finished with 4,231 runs from 159 games.
