“Morning session with the boys” - Tilak Varma hits the gym with Shreyas Iyer and other cricketers ahead of Round 3 of 2024 Duleep Trophy
India A cricketer Tilak Varma posted an Instagram picture on Tuesday, September 17, posing with cricketers from the teams participating in the ongoing Duleep Trophy, following a gym session. Tilak has made an impressive return to domestic cricket after recovering from an injury.
In the Round 2 match against India D, the left-hander played a stellar, unbeaten knock of 111 off 193 balls, including nine boundaries. The third and final round of the 2024 Duleep Trophy kicks off on Thursday, September 19.
Ahead of the two games, Tilak Varma shared a photo from a gym session that featured India D captain Shreyas Iyer, pacer Arshdeep Singh, and his India A teammates Mayank Agarwal, Riyan Parag, Shashwat Rawat, along with India C opener Sai Sudharsan.

Tilak will aim to maintain his impressive form in the upcoming round and secure a place back in the Indian team.
Tilak Varma excelled as India A beat India D in Round 2 of the 2024 Duleep Trophy
India D won the toss and chose to bowl first in their Duleep Trophy match against India A. The India D bowlers started strongly, dismissing half of the opposition for just 93 runs. However, Shams Mulani (89) and Tanush Kotian (53) played crucial innings to stabilize the situation, helping India A reach 290 in their first innings.
In response, India D struggled and were bowled out for 183 runs, with Devdutt Padikkal fighting valiantly, scoring 92 off 124 balls, including 15 boundaries.
In the second innings, centuries from Pratham Singh (122) and Tilak Varma (111*) and fifties from Mayank Agarwal (56) and Shashwat Rawat (64*) enabled India A to declare at 380/3, setting a daunting target of 488 runs.
Despite a brilliant 113 from Ricky Bhui, India D were unable to mount a substantial challenge and was dismissed for 301, losing the match by 186 runs. Tanush Kotian was the standout bowler for India A, claiming four wickets.
