“Mujhe pata nahin kaun si safalta ki woh baat kar rahe” - Shubman Gill hits back at Pat Cummins ahead of BGT 2024-25 3rd Test

Ahead of the third Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test, Australian skipper Pat Cummins stated that the hosts succeeded in their short-ball ploy against India in the Adelaide Test.

He pointed out that the short-ball strategy worked out in the Adelaide Test. However, Indian batter Shubman Gill had a contrasting opinion on the statement made by the Australian skipper.

In a press conference ahead of the Brisbane Test, Shubman Gill countered Cummins' statement about the short-ball ploy. Gill stated that barring the tail-enders, only one batter got out to the short ball. Therefore, he stated that he does not know what success Pat Cummins was talking about.

"Short ball pe safalta I think tail-ender ko chodke mujhe lagta hai ki ek hi batsman out hua hai short ball pe. Toh mujhe pata nahin kaun si safalta ki woh baat kar rahe hain (I think except for the tail-enders only one batter got out to the short ball so I do not know what success about the short ball he is talking about)," Gill said.

India won the first Test in Perth while Australia bounced back with a dominating win in Adelaide. The series is now level at 1-1 going into the third Test at The Gabba.

Pat Cummins backs Steve Smith to come good in Brisbane

Australian batter Steve Smith's poor form has been a cause for concern. He has failed to get going in both Tests so far. However, skipper Pat Cummins believes that his teammate can bounce back at The Gabba and that a big score is only around the corner.

"You look at his record, stats would suggest (runs) are not far around the corner. In particular this year, he's looking fantastic in the nets, just looking really sharp, looking like he's got plenty of time. doing all the right things like he always does. He got caught down the leg side last game. I don't know if you can look into that too much, so I'm sure a big score's just around the corner," Cummins said about Smith in a press conference.
