“My family was elated seeing this and so was I” – Sneh Rana expresses delight on being featured in a KBC question
Sneh Rana exuded pride after seeing a question about her achievement being asked in the popular Indian quiz show, Kaun Banega Crorepati. The all-rounder shared a video of the same on her social media handles.
In one of the episodes, legendary Bollywood actor and the show’s host Amitabh Bachchan asked the contestant a question on women’s cricket, featuring Rana’s record. The question, posed for INR 3,20,000 was- “In June 2024, who became only the second Indian to take eight wickets in an innings of a Women’s Test match?”
Sharing a video of the moment on her X account, Rana wrote:
“मुझे गर्व है कि मैंने अपने देश के किए कुछ ऐसा किया जिससे मेरा नाम इतिहास में लिया जाएगा। ऐसे ही एक गौरवान्वित कर देने वाले एहसास की अनुभूति तब हुई जब @SrBachchan जी की आवाज़ में आज खुद का नाम सुना। My family was elated seeing this and so was I. (I am proud that I did something for my country that will make my name go down in history. I experienced a feeling of pride when I heard my name in Amitabh Bachchan ji's voice today.)”
Notably, Rana etched her name in record books by scalping eight wickets in an innings during the one-off Test against South Africa. Her bowling efforts (8/77) helped India bowl their opposition out for 266 to enforce a follow-on.
She became only the second Indian to achieve the feat after the legendary Neetu David, who scalped 8/53 in 31.3 overs in a Test match against England back in 1995. David’s record, to date, stands as the best bowling figure for India in Women’s Tests.
Team India bow out of Women’s T20 World Cup 2024
Harmanpreet Kaur-led India crashed out of the ongoing T20 World Cup after finishing third in their group’s standings. India’s campaign started with a loss against New Zealand before they picked up the momentum to register back-to-back wins against Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
The Women in Blue lost their final group stage match against fierce rivals Australia, but their chances hung on a thin thread. Even after two losses, India could have qualified with the help of a higher NRR had Pakistan beaten the White Ferns in the encounter that followed.
With Pakistan’s heartbreaking defeat, India’s hopes of making it to the final-four crashed as Australia and New Zealand booked their semi-final spots. India will now gear up for a three-match ODI series against the Sophie Devine-led side that commences soon after the World Cup.
