“My favourite hero” - Sanju Samson’s wife Charulatha Remesh reacts to star batter's historic century in IND vs RSA 1st T20I 2024
Indian cricketer Sanju Samson’s wife Charulatha Remesh took to social media to praise her husband for his brilliant performance in the first T20I of the four-match series against South Africa on Friday, November 8. The game was held at Kingsmead, Durban.
Opening the batting for the Men in Blue, Sanju made a sensational start, bringing up his fifty in just 27 balls. The right-handed batter continued to dominate, striking the ball with precision. In just 47 balls, the 29-year-old brought up his second T20I century, finishing with a remarkable 107 runs off 50 deliveries, including seven boundaries and 10 sixes.
Reacting to the knock, the Kerala batter's wife Charulatha took to Instagram to share a message for him. She wrote:
“My forever favourite Hero.”
India beat South Africa by 61 runs while Sanju set multiple records with his match-winning innings. He became the first Indian batter to score two consecutive centuries in T20I cricket. Additionally, he equaled Rohit Sharma's record for hitting the most sixes by an Indian in a T20I match, with 10 maximums.

Asked to bat first, India lost opener Abhishek Sharma for just seven runs. Captain Suryakumar Yadav contributed a brisk 21 off 17 balls, but Sanju Samson stole the show with a brilliant century, finishing on 107 off 50 balls. Tilak Varma also played a handy knock, scoring 33 off 18 balls.
India collapsed in the final overs, going from 167/2 to 199/7, before ending their innings at 202/8 after 20 overs.
In response, South Africa never seemed to get going, as India’s bowlers kept taking wickets at regular intervals, restricting the hosts from forming any substantial partnerships. The Proteas were bowled out for 141 in 17.5 overs, with Heinrich Klaasen top-scoring with 25 runs.
Varun Chakaravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi picked up three wickets each.
