My personal doctor couldn’t believe I was meeting Virat Kohli: Australian PM Anthony Albanese

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese interacted with Team India's ace batter Virat Kohli during the recently concluded two-day warm-up match between India and Prime Minister's XI. Opening up on his meeting with Kohli, he stated that his doctor is a big fan of Kohli.

Albanese remarked that his doctor found it hard to believe he would meet Kohli. He also stated that the former India captain gave him a signed souvenir during their meeting.

The Australian PM was quoted as saying by News 18:

"My personal doctor is a Virat Kohli fan. Fan isn’t quite the word that explains how passionate he is. And he couldn’t believe that I was meeting Mr Kohli, as he called him. And I spoke to him and it was quite enough to give me something signed."

It is worth mentioning that Virat Kohli and the other Indian players also met the Australian PM at the Parliament House in Canberra ahead of the two-day warm-up match.

The two-day warm-up match between India and the Prime Minister's XI was reduced to a 50-over-per-side contest after the first day was washed out due to rain. Virat Kohli didn't feature in the pink ball match.

India won the toss and chose to field first. Opener Sam Konstas was the star performer for the Prime Minister's XI, scoring 107 runs, while Hanno Jacobs chipped in with a crucial 61-run contribution. The hosts were bundled out for 240.

Harshit Rana was the pick of the Indian bowlers, claiming a four-wicket haul. The visitors chased down the target in 46 overs to complete a five-wicket victory. Shubman Gill, who returned to action after a thumb injury, notched up a half-century, scoring 50 off 62 balls.

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 45 runs, while Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar finished with 42 runs each. Skipper Rohit Sharma batted at No. 4 in the batting order. However, he failed to get going, managing just three runs during his brief stay at the crease.
