"Feeling great, it is a big step in qualifying for the Super 8" - Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan after win against PNG in 2024 T20 World Cup
At the post-match presentation, Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan reflected on the victory against PNG, saying:
"Feeling great, it is a big step in qualifying for the Super 8. Everyone executed things beautifully. Someone like Fazal who is taking wickets, sets up a strong base for us. In T20, if the batter attacks, we need to attack back harder with the pitches helping us. The openers have given us good starts and today was a good opportunity for the other guys to spend some time in the middle."
On playing their final group game in St. Lucia, Khan continued:
"That is the beauty of playing franchise cricket. The guys who have played in St. Lucia can share their ideas about the venue. Everyone has the skill and ability to settle to the conditions. Hopefully we can win the next game."
The Afghan side will square off against the West Indies on Monday (June 17) in their last group match before the Super 8.
