Earlier, star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli had shared a similar message on Instagram ahead of the 2023 World Cup opener.

The high-anticipated India-Pakistan match is scheduled to be played in the world’s largest cricket stadium with a seating capacity of 132,000. It will be India’s eighth meeting against Pakistan in ODI World Cups. The Men in Blue enjoys a 7-0 record against the neighbors in the marquee ICC tournament.

India kicked off their 2023 World Cup campaign against five-time champions Australia, whom they defeated by six wickets in Chennai. The hosts then defeated Afghanistan by eight wickets in Delhi.

In the opening game, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul starred with the bat, scoring 85 and 97*, respectively. Ravindra Jadeja also finished with a superb spell of 3/28.

In the next game, India captain Rohit Sharma led from the front, scoring 131 against Afghanistan after Jasprit Bumrah starred with the ball with figures of 4/39. They will be eyeing for a hat-trick of wins in the ICC event.

Pakistan, on the other hand, are also coming off the back of two consecutive wins against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka. They beat the Netherlands by 81 runs before completing a successful 345-run chase against Lanka, courtesy of centuries from Abdullah Shafique and Mohammad Rizwan.

India recently beat Pakistan by 228 runs in the 2023 Asia Cup Super-4 game. They had won the 2019 World Cup game against the Men in Green by 89 runs via the DLS method.

Suryakumar Yadav unlikely to play IND vs PAK 2023 World Cup match

Suryakumar Yadav, though, didn’t get a game in the first two fixtures. He is likely to be rested for the Indo-Pak clash as well. The right-handed batter recently played the three-match ODI series against Australia, scoring 130 runs at an average of 65, including two half-centuries.

The 33-year-old has represented the Men in Blue in 28 ODI innings, scoring 667 runs at an average of 27.79, including four half-centuries so far. He might get a game if the likes of Shreyas Iyer or Hardik Pandya are rested later in the tournament.
