Omkar Salvi appointed Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s bowling coach ahead of IPL 2025

Omkar Salvi, currently the head coach of Mumbai's domestic side, has been roped in by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) as their bowling coach ahead of IPL 2025. The franchise made the announcement through their official social media account on Monday, November 18.

The Bengaluru-based franchise had previously appointed former wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik as their batting coach and mentor in July this year. RCB announced Salve's appointment with the following post:

"🚨 Announcement: 🚨 Omkar Salvi, current Head Coach of Mumbai, has been appointed as RCB’s Bowling Coach. 🤝☄️ Omkar, who has won the Ranji Trophy, Irani Trophy and the IPL in the last 8 months, is excited to join us in time for #IPL2025, after completion of his Indian domestic season duties."

Omkar Salvi is the brother of former pacer and Punjab's domestic side's coach, Avishkar Salvi. The 46-year-old guided Mumbai to title wins in the last edition of the Ranji and Irani Trophy. He has previously worked as the assistant bowling coach for Kolkata Knight Riders and bowling coach for Mumbai before taking over the head coach role.


Royal Challengers Bengaluru enter the 2025 IPL Mega Auction with a purse of INR 83 crore

Royal Challengers Bengaluru will enter the IPL 2025 auction with a purse of ₹83 crore, having spent ₹37 crore on retaining Virat Kohli (₹21 crore), Rajat Patidar (₹11 crore) and Yash Dayal (₹5 crore). The franchise will also have three Right to Match cards at the auction table.

The IPL Auction will take place over two days on November 24 and 25 at the Abady Al Johar Arena, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. A total of 574 players will be going under the hammer at the auction.
