"Pakistan should be banned from international cricket for losing to this Bangladesh"- Top 10 funny memes after Bangladesh's Test series loss vs India
Bangladesh slumped to a dismal seven-wicket loss against India in the second Test on Tuesday (October 1) at Green Park in Kanpur. They came into the series high on confidence after whitewashing Pakistan but unfortunately suffered the same fate at the hands of India.
They began the series well by reducing India to 144/6 on Day 1 of the first Test in Chennai. However, things went south for them after that, as all-rounders Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja performed magnificently to help the home team win comfortably by 280 runs.
The second Test in Kanpur was heading towards a dull draw after only 35 overs were possible on the first three days. Indian bowlers and batters then came out with aggressive intent on Day 4 and put immense pressure on Bangladesh. The bowlers set up the platform by bundling out the visitors for 233 in the second session. The batting unit then scored at over eight runs per over throughout their first innings, en route to 285/9 before declaration in the final hour of the day.
India's unexpected onslaught caught the Bangladesh team off-guard as they could not recover from it and were skittled out for 146 at the end of the first session of Day 5, setting a paltry target of 95. The hosts cruised to the 98/3 in 17.2 overs and won the match convincingly.
The second Test in Kanpur entertained the fans, who expressed their reactions to Bangladesh's loss by sharing hilarious memes on social media platforms. Here are 10 of the best memes:
"In both matches, we did not bat well"- Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto after loss vs India in 2nd Test in Kanpur
At the post-match presentation, Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto reflected on the disappointing series loss, saying:
"We took six early wickets in the first Test, but we let things slip away. In both matches, we did not bat well. In these conditions, we need to bat well. If we take a look, all our batters played 30-40 balls."
He continued:
"It is important for batters to look to score big runs once they get set. The way Ashwin and Jadeja played in Chennai set us back, but we needed to make plans as a bowling unit."
On the positives for them, Shanto added:
"Mominul Haque and Mehidy Hasan Miraz's performances were the positives."
The two teams will now square off in a three-match T20I series, which commences on October 6 in Gwalior.
