"Pakistan fans safely landing on earth!" - Top 10 funny memes after Pakistan's loss vs Australia in 1st T20I 2024
Australia beat Pakistan by 29 runs in the opening T20I of the three-match series on Thursday (November 14) at the Gabba in Brisbane. Pakistan won the ODI series by a 2-1 margin last week. The first T20I was shortened due to persistent rain at the venue.
Following a significant delay, match officials gave the green signal for a seven-over contest. Australia batted first after losing the toss and scored 93 runs for the loss of four wickets in the seven overs.
Glenn Maxwell powered the hosts to a good total with his flamboyant 43 (19). Marcus Stoinis also chipped in with a cameo of 21* (7) to provide a strong finish. Abbas Afridi scalped two wickets for the visiting side in the bowling department.
It was one-way traffic in the second innings as Pakistan's batting line-up collapsed like a pack of cards and found themselves in a dire position at 24/6 after just 3.2 overs. Abbas Afridi (20) and the other lower-order batters then provided mini contributions to help their side reach 64/9 in seven overs.
Fans enjoyed the short seven-over contest between Australia and Pakistan on Thursday. They expressed their reactions to the contest by sharing memes on Instagram and X (formerly known as Twitter).

"A good win to go one up" - Australia captain Josh Inglis after beating Pakistan in 1st T20I 2024 in Brisbane
At the post-match presentation, Australian skipper Josh Inglis reflected on the win and said:
"Really nice, the boys conducted themselves really and they did a great job for this win. There has been a lot of noise in the last week, a good win to go one up and head into Sydney. The bowlers were great tonight. Xavier and Spencer have played a lot of cricket and they nailed the execution of whatever they planned to do."
Glenn Maxwell received the Player of the Match award for his blazing knock in the first innings. Reflecting on his batting performance, Maxwell said:
"It was great fun out there! There was a little bit of tack in the wicket but I love batting at the Gabba in international cricket. It was a pretty mad rush to get the game going, but it felt good to be out there and playing."
The two teams will now travel to Sydney for the second T20I, which will take place on Saturday, November 16.
