"Pakistan nhi aaoge to khelne nhi dunga" - Top 10 funny memes as Australia dominates Day 1 of 2nd BGT 2024-25 Test vs India
The second Test of the Border-Gavskar Trophy between India and Australia commenced on Friday (December 6) at the Adelaide Oval. The visitors came into the contest in high spirits after an emphatic 295-run victory in the opening Test in Perth. However, the Indian team failed to carry on in the same vein of form in the second Test as the hosts made a strong comeback with a collective effort on Day 1.
After opting to bat first, India got all out for 180 in 44.1 overs after a sensational bowling performance from Australian pacer Mitchell Starc, who ended up with his career-best figures of 6/48. Young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy top-scored for India with 42 (54) in the lower middle order. Shubman Gill (31), KL Rahul (37), and Rishabh Pant (21) got starts but failed to convert them, which hampered Team India's chances of scoring a substantial first innings total.
Australian batters then played watchfully in the tricky twilight period against the new pink ball and reached 86/1 in 33 overs before stumps, putting their team in the driver's seat after the opening day's play. Nathan McSweeney (38*) and Marnus Labuschagne (20*) ended the day unbeaten at the crease as Australia only trailed by 94 runs, with nine wickets in hand in the first innings.

"His line and length were both excellent" - Cheteshwar Pujara on Mitchell Starc after Day 1 of 2nd India vs Australia BGT 2024-25 Test
Reviewing the first day's play of the second Test on Star Sports, Cheteshwar Pujara heaped praise on Australian pacer Mitchell Starc for bowling a magnificent spell, which helped his side to bundle the opposition for 180.
Pujara said:
"Mitchell Starc's line and length were both excellent. He has very good swing, but that swing is only effective when you bowl at the stumps. He bowled both full and short of the length at the stumps. When the ball had gotten older, the setup of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul was excellent. His numbers show that this was his best bowling to date in Test cricket."
He continued:
"He bowled extremely well, and the way he varied his length was excellent. He bowled short of the length and we were talking about Virat, he set him up. After that Ashwin, who was playing well against full deliveries from other bowlers, but when Mitchell Starc bowled full, he got late and the bat didn't even come down. So this was world-class bowling today."
