Parthiv Patel appointed Gujarat Titans assistant and batting coach ahead of IPL 2025
Former Team India wicketkeeper-batter and three time IPL champion Parthiv Patel has been appointed as the assistant and batting coach of the Gujarat Titans (GT) ahead of the next season. The franchise made the announcement on Wednesday, November 13.
Parthiv is reputed to be one of the few players to have played for three or more franchises in the cash-rich league. Surprisingly, the Gujarat wicketkeeper-batter is also one of the many players to have played for the Chennai Super Kings and the Mumbai Indians, both of whom have five titles to their name.
The southpaw has 139 IPL matches under his belt, accumulating 2848 runs at a strike rate of over 120 and an average of 22.60. He also has 69 catches and 16 stumpings to his name. Parthiv announced his retirement from all forms of the game in 2020.
Post his retirement, Parthiv Patel worked as a talent scout with the Mumbai Indians. His newest role with the Gujarat-based franchises sees him don dual responsibilities of being the assistant to their head coach, Ashish Nehra, and also being the batting coach of the 2022 IPL champions.
Gujarat Titans, in their official statement, said:
"The Gujarat Titans are pleased to announce the appointment of Parthiv Patel as their new Assistant and Batting Coach. With a distinguished 17-year career as a former Indian wicketkeeper-batter, Parthiv brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team."
"As the Titans prepare for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Parthiv's insights into batting techniques and strategies will play a crucial role in enhancing the players' skills. Parthiv, who is known for his sharp cricketing acumen and ability to mentor young talent, will strengthen the coaching staff and contribute to player development and performance," the statement added.
