PBKS Retention List IPL 2025: Full list of players retained by Punjab Kings, Price tags in INR and Purse remaining

The Punjab Kings (PBKS) have retained only two uncapped players ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. They have gone for hard-hitting lower-order batting Shashank Singh and another explosive batter in Prabhsimran Singh. While Shashank has been retained for ₹5.5 crore, Prabhsimran has been retained for ₹4 crore. As was predicted, Punjab have released the majority of their squad.

Shashank was among the few positives for Punjab Kings in IPL 2024, hammering 354 runs in 14 games at an average of 44.25 and a strike rate of 164.65. As for Prabhsimran, he contributed 334 runs in 14 matches at an average of 23.86 and a strike rate of 156.81.

All 10 teams confirmed their retention list for IPL 2025 after the deadline ended on Thursday, October 31. Teams were given the option to retain a maximum of five capped and a maximum of two uncapped players. Direct retentions apart, franchises can also use the Right to Match (RTM) option to retain players at the IPL 2025 mega auction.

PBKS purse for IPL 2025 Auction

Having confirmed their retention list for the next IPL season, PBKS have a whopping purse of ₹110.5 crore left for the mega auction. They spent a mere ₹9.5 crore to retain Shashank and Prabhsimran.

Punjab Kings have been arguably the most underperforming side in the history of the IPL. They have featured in every edition of the T20 league but are yet to win the competition. PBKS' best effort came in 2014 when they finished runners-up. The franchise has been eliminated in the league stage for 10 consecutive years from 2015 to 2024.
