PCB releases revised schedule of Test series against England
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has unveiled the revised schedule of the three-match Test series against England next month. The first two Tests will take place in Multan, while Rawalpindi will host the final match as the PCB announced it on Friday, September 20.
According to the initial schedule, the second Test of the series was slated to take place at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. The board decided to shift the fixture from Karachi to Multan due to the construction work ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025 scheduled for February.
PCB's international director Usman Wahala said they hope to give a memorable example to the visiting English team with their hospitality. As quoted by pcb.co.pk, the statement read:
"PCB is thrilled to welcome the England men’s cricket team back to Pakistan. Despite minor adjustments, we are committed to supporting fans and ensuring a memorable tour. We look forward to a fiercely competitive Test series and showcasing Pakistan’s renowned hospitality."
The visitors, led by the all-rounder Ben Stokes, are scheduled to arrive in Multan on October 2, with Pakistan also set to assemble in the same city on October 2.
Revised schedule:
7-11 Oct – First Test, Multan
15-19 Oct – Second Test, Multan
24-28 Oct – Third Test, Rawalpindi
Pakistan under pressure ahead of Tests vs in-form England team after losing to Bangladesh
Meanwhile, the home team is under immense pressure after a humiliating 2-0 series loss to Bangladesh recently. It was also their first series loss to Bangladesh in the red-ball format. Having lost his first five Tests as captain, Shan Masood's role remains in jeopardy ahead of the series against England.
Stokes and co. had inflicted a 3-0 series sweep the last time the tourists had visited Pakistan. The Englishmen won five out of their six Tests in the home summer and will arrive confident for the three-game series.
