PCB rubbishes report of Jason Gillespie's removal as Pakistan head coach
Pakistan Cricket Board rubbished the report of former Australian pacer and current Pakistan coach Jason Gillespie's removal from the role of the head coach. They issued the clarification regarding the same today, November 17.
Earlier, there were reports circulating that PCB had decided to appoint Aaqib Javed as the head coach. It was reported that Gillespie was tending to his roles outside the scope for which he was appointed, with the former Australian quick coaching the white ball sides in addition to the red ball team. The report also stated that the announcement was to be communicated as early as tomorrow, November 18.
On Sunday, November 17, the Pakistan Cricket Board took to their official account on social media platform X and posted that Gillespie was to continue as coach for the two-match Test series in South Africa. The post read:
"PCB strongly refutes the story. As announced previously, Jason Gillespie will continue to coach the Pakistan side for the two red-ball matches against South Africa."

Jason Gillespie's mix coaching tenure with Pakistan so far
Former Australian quick Jason Gillespie was appointed coach of the Pakistan Test team in April. In his first series in charge, Pakistan lost the two-match Test series against Bangladesh at home, with Gillespie also facing fire along with the Test regulars.
A similar tale would repeat with Pakistan losing the opening Test against England but that would change soon, with the Men in Green managing to turn things around and register their first win on home soil since 2021.
Gillespie was appointed as the white-ball coach on an interim basis for the tour of Australia and the team delivered a first ODI series win Down Under for the first time since 2002. However, in T20Is, they have lost the three-match series 2-0 with one match to go.
