[Picture] “A fashion icon” – Ravi Shastri shares photo with Tennis legend Maria Sharapova

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri met Tennis legend Maria Sharapova during the ongoing Wimbledon on Tuesday, July 9. The erstwhile cricketer looked dapper as he posed with Sharapova, calling her a ‘fashion icon.’

The post comes a day after Shastri attended a Wimbledon Round-of-32 game between Carlos Alcaraz and Nicholas Jerry at Centre Court. This came a couple of days after legend Sachin Tendulkar and England greats Joe Root, Ben Stokes, and Jos Buttler attended a third-round clash at the same court.

In a picture uploaded to Instagram by Shastri, the legendary cricket commentator was seen wearing a green T-shirt and a windcheater. Meanwhile, Sharapova looked gorgeous in a black tee and yellow jacket. Shastri captioned the post:

“Great to bump in to the gorgeous Maria. Did wonders to the game of Tennis for the sheer Quality and Style she brought to the court. A Fashion Icon.”

“When you don’t have quality, that is when the ratings drop” – Ravi Shastri wants Test cricket to approach the European Football league’s rule

Ravi Shastri recently expressed his views on the deteriorating status of Tests and measures to make it entertaining once again amid the rise of T20 cricket. Speaking at the World Cricket Connects, an event hosted by Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), Shastri said:

“When you don't have quality, that is when the ratings drop, there are fewer people in the crowd, it's meaningless cricket, which is the last thing the sport wants."
"You have 12 Test match teams. Bring it down to six or seven and have a promotion and relegation system. You can have two tiers, but let the top six keep playing to sustain the interest in Tests,” he added.

Ravi Shastri has represented India in 80 Tests and 150 ODIs, scoring 6938 runs and bagging 280 wickets. Under his coaching, India beat Australia twice in away Test series.
