[Picture] "Choose Happiness"- Mohammed Siraj poses stylishly during a mini-break ahead of IND vs NZ 2024 Test series

Team India pacer Mohammed Siraj recently posted his elegant photo while enjoying some time away from the field. He was last seen in action during the Test series against Bangladesh earlier this month. India whitewashed their neighbors clinically in the two-match series and remained in the pole position of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 points table. Siraj played a supporting role to his bowling mates across two matches and picked up four wickets.

After a mini break, the Hyderabad-born pacer will return to action during the upcoming three-match Test series against New Zealand, which will commence in Bengaluru on October 16. All the players will assemble in the capital city of Karnataka soon to begin preparations for the match.

Mohammed Siraj took to his official X handle on Friday and gave fans a glimpse of his time off the field by sharing a picture. He captioned the picture:

"I’d be tempted to play Akash Deep ahead of Mohammed Siraj"- Former selector picks bowling attack against Australia

Former cricketer and national selector Jatin Paranjape recently opined that he would pick Akash Deep ahead of Mohammed Siraj in the playing XI during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia. He preferred to go with Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Akash Deep as the three frontline pacers, with Siraj coming in if Shami is unfit.

In an interview with the Times of India, Paranjape said:

“Essentially, they will have a squad of 16, plus a backup squad of six or seven players who will travel with the team in case of injuries. If Shami is fit—and I think he will be—I’d be tempted to play Akash Deep ahead of Mohammed Siraj, purely based on current form.”

He continued:

“If he (Shami) is not fit, Siraj will obviously become the second fast bowler behind Bumrah. The third bowler spot will go to Akash Deep if Shami is unavailable. I think they will take five fast bowlers on this tour, and those will be Bumrah, Shami, Siraj, Akash Deep, and Mukesh Kumar. They will also take Arshdeep and one or two other fast bowlers as backups."
