Daryl Mitchell struggled to get going in the first two matches of the three-match Test series against India. However, New Zealand's middle-order lynchpin redeemed himself in the final fixture with an 82-run knock in the first innings. He also made a significant impact with his fielding throughout the series, taking eight catches.

Ish Sodhi, on the other hand, featured in the playing XI only in the third Test. The leg spinner bowled just seven overs in the match and finished with a solitary wicket.

"We know how good India are - they've got a number of world-class players - and for us, it's just [about] hanging in there, keep doing what Kiwis do, and yeah, very proud of this group today."
