Picture of Pat Cummins attending Coldplay concert the day Australia lost 2024 ODI series vs Pakistan goes viral

Australia Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins was spotted attending the Coldplay concert on Sunday (November 10). This was the same day Australia lost the ODI series 2-1 against Pakistan at Optus Stadium in Perth.

The British rock band held their Music Of The Spheres World Tour at Sydney's Accor Stadium on November 6 & 7 and 9 & 10. The right-arm pacer was a part of the concert on the final day with his wife Rebecca Jane Cummins.

Rebecca posted a story from the event and captioned the post:

Pat Cummins led the team in the first two ODIs and contributed with 45 runs and two wickets. He played a match-winning knock of 32* in a crunch situation to help Australia secure a winning start.

However, Pakistan leveled the series by winning the second ODI after chasing down the target of 164 successfully with nine wickets in hand. The third ODI saw the hosts bundled out for 140 and Pakistan complete the chase under 27 overs to clinch the series.

Although Cricket Australia have come under fire for resting Cummins, it was predecided that he will skip the final ODI. The move was opted to help him prepare for the Border Gavaskar Trophy against India.

Moreover, the key reason for him playing against Pakistan was to get ready for the India series, after coming off an eight-week break.

Brett Lee defends Pat Cummins for attending Coldplay concert

Former Australian pacer Brett Lee has come to the defense of Pat Cummins, who chose to spend some time off the field and attend the Coldplay concert. Here's what Lee told Nine’s Today:

"Nothing wrong with that. I was there (at Coldplay) as well and it was absolutely brilliant. If you’ve got a day off, go to Coldplay, why not?”

Lee's comments are in stark contrast to Michael Clarke's take on the situation. The former batter feels Australia could have rested their senior players in the final ODI only if the team had won the first two games against Pakistan.
