Northamptonshire's India teammates Prithvi Shaw and Yuzvendra Chahal posted outside Manchester United’s home ground – Old Trafford – on Friday, August 16. Notably, the Red Devils beat Fulham 1-0 at the venue to kickstart their 2024-25 Premier League journey.

In a picture shared by Shaw on his Instagram story, the opening batter was seen wearing a yellow T-shirt and matching cap. Meanwhile, Chahal opted for a green-colored shirt.

The distance between Northamptonshire and Manchester is roughly 220 kilometers. The Steelbacks played their last One-Day Cup game against Kent in Canterbury on Wednesday, August 14. The action will now shift to County Championships, where Northamptonshire will play Middlesex in Northwood, starting August 22.

As a result, Chahal and Shaw made the most of the break by watching a football game.

Snubbed by Team India, Yuzvendra Chahal weaves his magic for Northamptonshire on debut

Yuzvendra Chahal, who has been axed from India’s white-ball formats after the 2024 T20 World Cup, weaved his magic for Northamptonshire on his debut in the One-Day Cup. The leg-spinner returned with exceptional figures of 5/14 in his 10 overs as Northants beat Kent by nine wickets.

The 34-year-old will now be keen to perform in the County Championship games. He is available for the first five matches of the season.

Despite being India’s leading wicket-taker in T20Is (96 wickets), Chahal failed to find a place in the squad for the Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka series. He also failed to get a game for the Men in Blue during their victorious 2024 T20 World Cup campaign.

On the other hand, Prithvi Shaw was also impressive for Northants in the One-Day Cup. The right-handed batter amassed 343 runs in eight matches at an average of 42.87 with the help of three half-centuries. Shaw will look to continue his good performance in the red-ball format.

The Mumbai batter managed just eight games each in the last two editions of the Indian Premier League for Delhi Capitals. His last outing for the Men in Blue came in July 2021.
