Rishabh Pant makes a comeback into the Test side after 20 months
Rishabh Pant has been selected for the first Test against Bangladesh. The Delhi Capitals skipper makes a return to the Test side for the first time since his horrific car crash.
Pant most recently made his comeback in Team India colors at the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Across eight matches, the southpaw scored 171 runs at an average of 24.42. He also played a crucial knock of 42 against arch-rivals Pakistan. He was also a part of the Playing XI for Team India against South Africa in the summit clash, which they won by seven runs.
The 26-year-old also played an ODI against Sri Lanka last month. He took the catch of Pathum Nissanka off Axar Patel's bowling and scored six runs as Team India slumped to a 110-run loss against the Islanders, conceding a 2-0 series win to the hosts.
Pant is expected to be a part of the playing XI in the first Test against Bangladesh. The Test will be played from September 19 at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
