Team India's top-order batter Shubamn Gill recently attended Agni Chopra's birthday bash. Chopra is part of the Mizoram team in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024 (Plate Group) and has grabbed headlines with his consistent performances.
The left-handed batter has had a phenomenal first-class career so far, chalking up 1,585 runs across 17 innings at an awe-inspiring average of 99.06. Chopra turned 26 on Monday, November 4, and celebrated his birthday with close friends and family.
The talented youngster is the son of popular Bollywood director and producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and film critic Anupama Chopra. Anupama shared a picture on her Instagram account, giving fans a glimpse of her son's birthday celebrations.
Gill, who is a close friend of Chopra, was present at the party with his sister Shahneel Gill. Anupama captioned the post:
"Birthday celebrations for @agnidevchopra - after too much Kashmiri food (courtesy @stardhruv09) and Nutella cheesecake (courtesy @poojadhingra), this is all the partying we could muster up 😊."
Shubman Gill was last seen in action during India's recently concluded three-match home Test series against New Zealand. The hosts suffered an unprecedented series defeat, suffering their first-ever whitewash in a three-match Test series at home.
It is worth mentioning that Gill missed the opening fixture due to a stiff neck. He finished with 144 runs from innings at an average of 36.
"Everyone wants to be part of that, to play in the IPL" - Agni Chopra
Agni Chopra recently spoke about his aim of playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The southpaw failed to get a contract at the previous auction. He stated that he has put in a lot of hard work to turn his dream into reality.
Speaking to PTI, Chopra said:
"Everyone wants to be part of that, to play in the IPL. A lot of the work I’ve put in is with that in mind as well, and it’s a big motivating factor."
During the interview, Agni Chopra mentioned that apart from his coach, he also discusses cricket with Shubman Gill, adding:
"Khushpreet Singh, my coach, is my number one guy on and off the field. Shubman (Gill) is a close friend and with him, also on the field and off the field, we have discussions."
Mizoram are taking on Goa in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25 (Plate Group fixture). The game kicked off on Wednesday, November 6. Goa finished 322/3 at stumps on Day 1.
