"Please don't spread such things!"- Venkatesh Iyer comments on viral Instagram reel of him laughing on RCB's bowling attack

Venkatesh Iyer has issued a clarification over an interview of him, which has gone viral on Instagram. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder spoke with commentator Sanjay Manjrekar in an interview on IPLT20.com before the match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

Manjrekar asked Iyer about his preparations for the upcoming game, even reminding him about the half-century he scored earlier in IPL 2024 against RCB. While Iyer mentioned that RCB had a strong bowling lineup, he started laughing in the middle as Mohammed Siraj tried to tease him.

Siraj wasn't visible on the screen, and only the half clip of Iyer laughing on RCB's bowling attack went viral on Instagram. Iyer urged the owner of that Instagram profile not to share videos with half story.

"Please don't spread such things! The context was totally different," Iyer commented. Below is a screenshot of his comment.

While Venkatesh Iyer has clarified that his comments were being taken out of context, the reels of his interview have gone viral on Instagram.

Iyer has enjoyed batting against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL, but he could only manage 16 runs in the recent battle between RCB and KKR on Sunday afternoon. Playing at the Eden Gardens, the southpaw lost his wicket to Cameron Green after scoring 16 runs off eight balls. He hit three fours in his brief knock.

Although Venkatesh Iyer could not score big, Kolkata Knight Riders reached 222/6 in 20 overs. In reply, Royal Challengers Bengaluru huffed and puffed, but they fell short by one run in the end.

KKR recorded their fifth win of the tournament and strengthened their grip over the second position in the standings. Kolkata's next match is against Punjab Kings on Friday.
