“My decision is final & I am very clear” - Rohit Sharma on his T20I retirement

Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from T20I cricket after leading India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup in Barbados. Although many players have recently returned from retirement to represent their nations, Sharma emphasized that fans will not see him play T20Is for India again.

In a conversation with JioCinema, the 37-year-old dismissed any thoughts of making a comeback to the T20 format, stating:

"Retirement has become a joke these days in world cricket, people announce retirement but then return to play, it hasn't happened in India - however I have been observing players from other countries, they announce retirement but then make a U-turn so you never really know whether someone has actually retired - my decision is final & I am very clear - it was a perfect time to say goodbye from T20I."

Rohit Sharma retired as the highest run-scorer in T20I cricket, accumulating 4,231 runs in 159 matches, with 32 fifties and five centuries to his name.
