Ranji Trophy 2024-25: Rajat Patidar slams 68-ball ton for MP; Maharashtra hammer Meghalaya by 10 wickets
Madhya Pradesh batter Rajat Patidar slammed a 68-ball hundred in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match against Haryana at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Tuesday, October 29. Patidar's effort is now the fifth fastest Ranji Trophy ton after Rishabh Pant (48 balls), Riyan Parag (56 balls), RK Borah (56 balls) and S Reuben Paul (60 balls).
Patidar was dismissed for 159 off 102 balls in MP's second innings, a knock that featured 13 fours and seven sixes. Madhya Pradesh declared their second innings on 308-4 after 48.1 overs. Set a target of 177, Haryana finished on 115-3 as the match ended in a draw.
Maharashtra thumped Meghalaya by 10 wickets and earned a bonus point in a Group A match of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy played in Aurangabad. On Day 4 of the contest, Meghalaya resumed their second innings on 157-8 and were bowled out for 185. Chasing 101, Maharashtra got home with ease as Murtaza Trunkwala smashed 78* off 73, while Siddhesh Veer was unbeaten on 24 off 52.
In another Group A match in Agartala, defending champions Mumbai and Tripura played out a draw. Mumbai resumed their second innings at 7-2 and slumped further to 44-5. However, skipper Ajinkya Rahane (48*) and Siddhesh Lad (25) lifted the side as they declared on 123-6. Set a target of 272, Tripura made 48-0 in 22 overs. Mumbai earned three points by virtue of taking the first-innings lead.
In Group B matches of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy, Gujarat played out a draw against Rajasthan, while Himachal hammered Andhra by an innings and 38 runs. Also, Hyderabad thumped Puducherry by an innings and 50 runs.
Karnataka, Delhi register comprehensive wins in Ranji Trophy 2024-25
In a Group C match of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy, Karnataka got the better of Bihar by eight wickets at the Moin-ul-Haq Stadium in Patna. After declaring their first innings on 287-7, Karnataka bowlers bowled out Bihar for 212 in their second innings despite Sakibul Gani's 130 as Shreyas Gopal claimed 4-70. They then chased down a target of 69 in just 10.1 overs, losing just two wickets.
In another Group C match in Kolkata, Kerala and Bengal played out a draw. In a Group D match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the hosts beat Assam by 10 wickets. Resuming their second innings at 44-3, Assam were bowled out for 182. Delhi chased down a target of 59 in 16.1 overs.
Among other results, Vidarbha beat Uttarakhand by 266 runs, while the Punjab vs Uttar Pradesh match ended in a draw. The contest between Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu in Coimbatore was also a draw.
