Trent Rockets all-rounder Rashid Khan is set to miss the remaining matches for the franchise in the ongoing 2024 Hundred after sustaining a hamstring injury. The leg-spinner suffered the blow while fielding in the final over during his side's most recent clash against the Southern Brave on August 10.
According to a report by ESPNCricinfo, all-rounder Chris Green has been recalled into the squad and will serve as the replacement for the Afghanistan international.
The Trent Rockets are still in contention to make it to the knockouts with two league stage matches remaining. The 2022 edition winners are placed fifth in the points table with six points. They are slated to face fourth-placed Birmingham Phoenix in a crucial clash on Monday, August 12, at Edgbaston.
Apart from Rashid Khan, the Trent Rockets had another injury casualty in the form of Imad Wasim during the recent crushing final set loss away from home. However, the Pakistan all-rounder is yet to be ruled out, and is still with the squad and potentially in contention to make it to the playing XI for the upcoming crucial encounter.
Rashid Khan has taken nine wickets in five matches in the ongoing season, and scored 44 runs at a strike rate of 157.15, including some of his trademark big shots.
The all-rounder had undergone back surgery following Afghanistan's fruitful 2023 ODI World Cup campaign in the subcontinent. He proceeded to make his comeback ahead of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) and even led his nation in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Rashid Khan had withdrawn from the 2023 Hundred on the eve of the tournament owing to an undisclosed injury.

The Trent Rockets were in the driving seat with a cushion of 49 runs with 20 balls to spare against the Southern Brave, with one of Rashid Khan's sets still remaining. The leg-spinner was brought on straightaway against Kieron Pollard to set up the game for the death bowlers.
However, the veteran dispatched Rashid Khan for five sixes in a row to completely turn the game around. The spinner had conceded only 10 runs off his first 15 deliveries with Andre Fletcher's wicket earlier in the innings.
Rashid Khan would be hoping to be fit in time for the upcoming one-off Test against New Zealand, scheduled to be held in Noida in September.
