The Rajasthan Royals' campaign this year can be divided into two halves. They made an excellent start to the tournament and were at the top of the points table at the halfway stage of the tournament. However, a sudden slump in form saw them lose four consecutive games and end the league phase in third position.

Sanju Samson and company regrouped themselves to beat the Royal Challengers in Eliminator only to go down without fighting in Qualifier 2 against the SunRisers Hyderabad. They could only manage 139 while chasing 176 and lost by 36 runs at Chepauk.
