RCB entered the auction with a high purse amount of 83 Crores after retaining Virat Kohli (21 Crore), Rajat Patidar (11 Crore), and Yash Dayal (5 Crore).
The Bengaluru franchise's first buy was English all-rounder Liam Livingstone (8.75 Crore), followed by big-hitting wicket-keepers Phil Salt (11.50 Crore) and Jitesh Sharma (11 Crore).
The Royal Challengers also went big for veteran pacers Josh Hazlewood (12.5 Crore) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (10.75 crore) to bolster their bowling attack. However, they surprised their fans by not trying hard for players like Mohammed Siraj, KL Rahul, and Yuzvendra Chahal.

In a video uploaded on RCB's official YouTube channel, the franchise's director of cricket, Mo Bobat, expressed satisfaction with their picks in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
He revealed that they intended to have a powerful batting unit, which led them to successfully bid for the likes of Phil Salt, Liam Livingstone, and Jitesh Sharma. Bobat said:
“At the end of the day, we’re pretty happy with what we’ve got, We’ve spent a lot of time thinking about how we want to play, we really want to have a very powerful batting line-up."
"To have secured the likes of Phil Salt, we saw how special he was last year. Liam Livingstone through the middle which we wanted to reinforce and strengthen. Really happy with those and to get Jitesh Sharma as well, really happy with that."
He continued:
