The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is one of the most popular franchises in the Indian Premier League and has looked in good shape in the first leg of the tournament.

Though RCB has never won the elusive IPL trophy, the team's fans have always been patient and have come out to support them every year with double the enthusiasm and passion.

Recently, the team achieved a unique feat that has never been pulled off by any IPL team or any Asian sports team. For the month of September 2020, RCB clocked a mammoth 84.9 million impressions on its social media handle - Instagram.

This gigantic figure was obviously more than any other IPL team but was also more than most popular football franchises around the world such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.

The news broke out on Twitter when an analytics channel posted the impressions figures of various teams for the month of September.

A major reason behind this achievement is the simple storytelling approach that RCB has stuck to this season, unlike other teams. The team rolls out videos on every match day along with post-match analysis on its YouTube channel.

This is the reason RCB is the only IPL franchise with more than 1 million subscribers, and in the last month, the channel has gained over 5,00,000 subscribers.

The team also has its own digital channel in 12th Man TV that is headed by Navneet Krishna (ICC 2020 U-19 host). Ajith Ramamurthy is the digital content head for the Bengaluru franchise, who was hired recently and he has certainly shown everyone how a brand can grow organically in the digital space even in today's clickbait era.

What's next? The team from Bengaluru will look to cash in on the good start they have made in this edition of the IPL and book a spot in the playoffs. Virat Kohli's RCB will next play against MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings at the Dubai International Stadium on the 10th of October.
