"RCB vs CSK Today" - Riyan Parag outlines his priorities over practice ahead of IPL 2024 blockbuster clash

Rajasthan Royals (RR) all-rounder Riyan Parag is every cricket fan today as he braces himself for the blockbuster 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The virtual knockout clash is scheduled for Saturday, May 18 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Although rain looms over the high-octane contest in the south, it has not dampened the spirit of the fans by any means. While fans have applied for leave or wriggling out their way from work, fellow cricketers are cutting practice or finishing their commitments early to be in front of the television screen in the evening.

Riyan Parag shared a screenshot of his conversation with a member of the RR support staff, where he is seen mentioning 'no practice' due to the showdown clash between RCB and CSK.

Riyan Parag will be in action along with his RR teammates in a crucial match against league leaders Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday, May 19. RR need a win to ensure a place in the top two and play Qualifier 1 in Ahmedabad.

RCB need to defeat CSK by either 18 runs or with 11 balls to spare to qualify for the playoffs

Only a win by any margin will not suffice for RCB as they have an inferior net run-rate to CSK in the points table. To overcome that difference, the Faf du Plessis-led side will have to ensure that they are chasing down the total with 11 balls to spare if they are chasing, and need to ensure the margin of win is over 18 runs if they are defending a score.

As of now, rain has not made an imposing presence to thwart the proceedings, but the forecast makes for a grim reading. Much has been made about the venue's superior drainage facility, but it remains to be seen whether it can keep the rain away, if required.
