The league stage of IPL 2023 is now in the history books. Gujarat Titans recorded their tenth win of the season in the final league game by beating Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday.

GT captain Hardik Pandya opted to field first after winning the toss. The hosts posted 197-5 on the scoreboard, thanks to a brilliant century from Virat Kohli. In response, Shubman Gill's ton helped the visitors chase down the target in 19.1 overs.

Virat Kohli fought like a lone warrior for Royal Challengers Bangalore. The right-hander opened the batting and finished with 101 off 61. Anuj Rawat, Michael Bracewell and Faf du Plessis started well but could not convert their starts into big scores. Noor Ahmad bagged two wickets for GT.

In response, Shubman Gill's century and Vijay Shankar's 35-ball 53 helped the Gujarat Titans finish with 198-4 in 19.1 overs. Mohammed Siraj bowled a spell of 2-32, but his efforts eventually went in vain.

  1. Virat Kohli broke Chris Gayle's record for most hundreds by a batter in IPL. He recorded his seventh ton to go past Gayle's tally.
  2. Kohli also set a new record for the most IPL hundreds by a batter at the same venue. It was his fourth century at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Gayle has registered three tons at the venue, while David Warner has recorded three at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.
  3. Kohli and Faf du Plessis set a new record for the most 50+ partnerships in an IPL season. They stitched up their eighth 50+ stand in IPL 2023. Ruturaj Gaikwad and du Plessis (2021), Kohli and AB de Villiers (2016) and David Warner and Jonny Bairstow (2019) had seven 50+ stands.
