RCB vs GT, IPL 2023: List of Impact Players in today's match
The Gujarat Titans (GT) have won the toss and chose to bowl first against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday, May 21.
GT, who have been the team to beat in this year's cash-rich league, have retained the same team that played the last game. RCB, on the other hand, have made one change to their side. Karn Sharma misses out and Himanshu Sharma replaces him.
Here is the list of the Impact Player subs in today's match:
Royal Challengers Bangalore: Finn Allen, Suyash Prabhudessai, Himanshu Sharma, Sonu Yadav, and Akash Deep.
Gujarat Titans: Vijay Shankar, KS Bharat, Shivam Mavi, R Sai Kishore, and Abhinav Manohar.
Himanshu Sharma came in as the Impact Player sub for the RCB, replacing senior batter Dinesh Karthik. GT, meanwhile, injected batter Vijay Shankar into their playing XI in place of left-arm pacer Yash Dayal.
Speaking at the toss, GT skipper Hardik Pandya stressed that the weather forecast played a significant role in his decision. Incidentally, it has been raining cats and dogs in Bengaluru since the morning and there is a chance of thunderstorms during the game.
"We are gonna bowl," he said. "With the weather around, you don't know the problems it will cause. We just want to know how much we are going to chase. For us, it's important to win games and continue the momentum."
"I believe in good habits," he added. "We just want to go out there and play some good cricket, you can't take anyone lightly in this tournament."
RCB skipper Faf du Plessis also revealed that they wanted to bowl first. However, he is hopeful of putting up a good score and defending the total.
"Obviously would like to bowl first with the weather around," du Plessis said. "Teams batting first here have won games, so hopefully we can put up a good score. We've had two good games and the guys are eager to get into this one."
