Shubman Gill failed to fire in Duleep Trophy 2024 opener

Shubman Gill captained Team A in their recently concluded opening clash of the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024 against Team B at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. However, he failed to deliver with the bat in both innings of the red-ball fixture.

He got off to a decent start in the first innings, scoring 25 runs, but failed to convert it into a big score. Gill was undone by a brilliant inswinger from pacer Navdeep Saini.

Gill shoulders his arms at a delivery pitched outside the off stump. However, the ball came back in sharply after pitching and crashed onto the stumps. The batter couldn't make amends in the subsequent essay, getting caught by wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant off Saini's bowling for 21.

The Shubman Gill-led Team A suffered a 76-run defeat in the contest. The side will now face Team D at Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur from Thursday, September 12.
