Record Alert: Arshdeep Singh registers best-ever figures by an Indian at T20 World Cup during IND vs USA
Arshdeep Singh starred with the ball for India in their 2024 T20 World Cup game against the United States of America (USA) at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Wednesday. The left-arm pacer struck twice in his opening over by dismissing Shayan Jahangir (golden duck) and Andries Gous to provide a brilliant start for the Men in Blue. Later, Arshdeep dismissed Nitish Kumar and Harmeet Singh to finish with exceptional figures of 4/9 in his four overs.
The stunning figures helped Arshdeep eclipse legendary off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who had returned with 11/4 in 3.2 overs against Australia in Mirpur at the 2014 T20 World Cup.

Arshdeep Singh has gone from strength to strength in the T20 World Cup. The 25-year-old was India’s leading wicket-taker at the 2022 T20 World Cup, picking up 10 wickets in six matches. He has scalped seven wickets in three games in the ongoing ninth edition of the T20 tournament. He will now look to continue his sublime form as India aim for their first ICC title in the last 11 years.
Arshdeep had recently finished impressive figures for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) season, picking up 19 wickets in 14 games.
Arshdeep Singh’s 4-fer helps India restrict USA to 111/8 in T20 World Cup encounter
A clinical bowling display from Arshdeep Singh helped Rohit Sharma and company restrict USA to 111/8 in 20 overs in the T20 World Cup fixture on Wednesday. Hardik Pandya also bagged two wickets for the Men in Blue.
Nitish Kumar top scored with 27 runs off 23 balls, while Steven Taylor chipped in with 24 off 30 deliveries. Four batters also contributed in double digits to help the USA cross the three-figure mark.
In response, India are 10/2 after 2.2 overs, with both openers Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli back in the hut.
