"Revenge is best served cold" - Top 10 funny memes after Australia's loss to India in 2024 T20 World Cup

Australia's chances of reaching the semi-finals have gotten complicated after their loss in the crucial 2024 T20 World Cup match against India on Monday (June 24). The Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St. Lucia, played host to the contest. Aussie captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and opted to bowl first.

Josh Hazlewood gave them an ideal start with the ball, dismissing Indian batting linchpin Virat Kohli for a duck. However, things went south after that, with Rohit Sharma going berserk with the bat.

Rohit put on a masterclass in aggressive batting with a sensational knock of 92 (41) to power India to 205 in the first innings.

Travis Head tried to return the favor with an enterprising knock of 76 (43). But that was not enough, as Australia could only reach 181/7, thereby losing the match by 24 runs. The Mitchell Marsh-led side will now be hoping for Bangladesh to beat Afghanistan in the final Super 8 match of the tournament. Afghanistan will go through if they bag a victory.

Fans took note of Australia's uncertain future in the World Cup due to their defeat against India. They expressed their reactions on the matter by sharing hilarious memes on social media platforms.

"We still technically have a chance to go through to the semis" - Australia captain Mitchell Marsh after loss vs India in 2024 T20 World Cup

At the post-match presentation, Australia skipper Mitchell Marsh remained optimistic about his team's chances of qualification. Reflecting on the loss, Marsh said:

"It's disappointing. We still technically have a chance to go through to the semis but today India got the better of us. Through the course of 40 overs there's lot of small margins you can look at. But ultimately India were the better team."

Marsh continued:

"Rohit Sharma got off to a flyer. We've got to give some credit to him. In run chases like that if you can keep it (asking rate) to tens, it would be possible but India were too good for us. Come on Bangladesh! (laughs)"
