Rinku Singh, Vidwath Kaverappa & others added to 2024 Duleep Trophy as 10 replacements named ahead of IND vs BAN series

Team India batter Rinku Singh and Karnataka pacer Vidhwath Kaverappa are among the names added ahead of the second round of matches in the 2024 Duleep Trophy. The Board for Cricket Control in India (BCCI) selection committee announced changes to the squads on Tuesday, September 10.

The 2024 Duleep Trophy went underway on Thursday, September 5, as India A took on India B at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Concurrently, India C and India D also locked horns at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. Several Team India stars like KL Rahul, Shubhman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shreyas Iyer were part of the two matches.

Team India, meanwhile, are set to take on Bangladesh in the first of the two Tests at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai next Thursday (September 19). The players selected for the opening Test will be at the venue from Thursday, September 12, for a preparation camp.

India A see the most changes, with KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Dhruv Jurel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Akash Deep being called for national duty. Mayank Agarwal has been announced as the captain of India A, with Akshay Wadkar, Pratham Singh, SK Rasheed, Shams Mulani, and Aaqib Khan being named as replacements for the Chennai-bound players.

India B also sees a fair few departures, with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, and Yash Dayal being called up. Suyash Prabhudessai and Rinku Singh have been named replacements along with Himanshu Mantri, who has been added to the squad. Sarfaraz Khan has also been called up but will play the second round and join the team soon after.

Vidhwath Kaverappa replaces Tushar Deshpande in the India D squad

Karnataka fast bowler Vidhwath Kaverappa and Haryana batter Nishant Sindhu have been added to the India D squad as replacements for Tushar Deshpande and Axar Patel, respectively.

While Axar has been called up for Team India's first Test against Bangladesh, Deshpande has been ruled out due to injury, with Kaverappa moving from India A to India D.

The second round sees India A take on India D while India B face India C. Both matches will start on Thursday.
